Trauma Therapy

Many people think trauma is only about the terrible things that happened to them. While that is certainly true, trauma can also be about what didn’t happen.

Perhaps you weren’t comforted when you were frightened, protected when you needed safety, or encouraged to feel valued and accepted. Maybe your emotional needs were overlooked, your feelings dismissed, or you grew up without the love, security, or consistency every person deserves. Sometimes it is these absences, as much as painful experiences, that leave lasting emotional wounds.

The effects of trauma can show up in many ways—anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, difficulties in relationships, low self-worth, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or simply feeling stuck. You may find yourself reacting in ways that no longer serve you, even though those responses once helped you survive.

Healing is about understanding what happened—and what was missing—so you can begin to let go of survival strategies that no longer serve you, build healthier ways of coping, and move towards a life that feels calmer, more connected, and more fulfilling.

Trauma may shape your story, but it does not define who you are.

Beneath the pain, fear, and self-protective patterns is the part of you that has always remained worthy, whole, and deserving of love and connection. Trauma therapy is the journey of rediscovering that essential and worthy part of yourself by gently removing the anger, resentment, anxiety, depression, negative behaviors, shame and low self-esteem that often keep it out of reach.

In therapy, I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where we can gently replace any self-criticism with kindness and explore your experiences at a pace that feels safe for you. Together, we’ll make sense of how your past continues to influence your present, so you can begin living from a place of authenticity, resilience, and hope.
